We all value our time with close friends. But perhaps we aren’t aware of just how important those friendships are in our day-to-day lives and to our overall health and well-being. According to friendship expert Shasta Nelson, there are many compelling reasons to spend time with friends. Chief among them, she says, is that it can reduce stress and boost our emotional, mental and physical health – particularly in challenging and uncertain times.

Facebook Friends Day was February 4th, and we want to continue that celebration with a reminder to take time to show gratitude for these important people in our lives. But let’s face it, we’re all busy, and sometimes we may take our most valued relationships for granted. In fact, in one recent end-of-life study, researchers found that three out of every four people said they regret not spending more time with friends and family.

On Facebook, more than 750 million new friendships are formed every day. But despite all these important connections, our most valuable friendships are often the ones we don’t always make time for or express how much they mean to us. In this satellite interview, friendship expert Shasta Nelson will talk about how we can celebrate our friends and friendships both on and offline.
