FORMER OLYMPIC RUNNER SHARES SECRETS ON LONG-TERM FITNESS AND NUTRITION SUCCESS

Samantha Clayton

Former Olympian and Vice President of Worldwide Fitness and Education at Herbalife Nutrition

For many, midnight on January 1st will signify a fresh start. This means eating healthy, getting active and take charge of our health. While most people start the New Year with the best of intentions, they often resort to drastic measures, tackling the problem too aggressively, with overly restrictive ‘crash diets,’ or extreme exercise regimens they cannot commit to long-term or even risk injury. Taking on a healthier lifestyle can seem, overwhelming and at times discouraging, however, there are many tools and groups available to help people achieve success.

Did you know that according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC)

  • 39.5% of U.S. adults are obese and many are looking to make a change
  • 88 % of American adults do not meet the government’s national physical activity recommendations for aerobic activity and muscle strengthening, and one-in-three adults could have diabetes by 2050

On Friday, February 2nd, former Olympic runner, personal trainer, and current Vice President of Worldwide Fitness and Education at Herbalife Nutrition, Samantha Clayton, will offer tips to help people live healthier, happier, more active lifestyles.. By reminding people to C.A.R.E, Samantha will help viewers keep their New Year’s resolutions in 2018!

Samantha’s C.A.R.E. tips include:

  • Create specific and achievable goals and resolutions. Remember, this is a lifestyle change that can lead to sustainable, lasting results. “Crash diets” and gym overload are temporary and not maintainable long-term.
  • Activate your social networks to help you achieve your goals. Surrounding yourself with like-minded people can help you stay on track.
  • Resolve to take action by making little lifestyle changes. It takes three weeks to make a habit, so start with something you know you can achieve.
  • Eat balanced meals that include fruits and vegetables, whole grains and proteins that will help maintain energy and curb appetite.
