The holidays can be a whirlwind of socializing and spending. Many of us overindulge at the dinner table, and while shopping. During the busy holiday season, it’s important to keep a close eye on your finances and know what you can afford to spend.

On December 1st, Financial Expert Manisha Thakor is available to give your audience a crash course on becoming “fiscally fit” for the holidays. In this segment, Manisha will expand on the following tips:

·         Know where you stand: Check your FICO Score before you make any purchases. You can check for free at most major lenders.

·         Set a budget and stick to it: Make a gift list and don’t let guilt lead you to overextend yourself.

·         Pay your bills on time and watch your balances: payment history is 35% of your FICO Score and utilization counts for 30%.

·         Beware of identity theft and fraud: monitor transactions and use credit card alerts.

·         Don’t be tempted by new store credit cards: it may be more trouble than it’s worth to open a new credit account.
