Warriors to Summits is a transformative experience provided by No Barriers Warriors. No Barriers empowers veterans and transitioning service members with disabilities to overcome barriers and unleash their potential. The program provides a place for veterans to push themselves, both physically and mentally, harness adversity and connect with other veterans. For the final expedition in the 2016 Warriors to Summits Series, 13 veteran alumni from previous Warriors to Summits expeditions – 2014 Mt. Whitney, 2015 Gannett Peak, and 2016 Gila Wilderness and Presidential Range – will come together for an experience in the rugged San Juan Mountain Range within the Colorado Rocky Mountains. In preparation for this October expedition, the team will train in Colorado State Forest State Park this August. The veterans were chosen based on their desire to continue their journey to live a fulfilling and purposeful No Barriers Life.

The journey by the numbers:

  • Expedition III: San Juan Mountain Range will be the first alumni team No Barriers has created.
  • The 13 veterans face life-altering injuries, ranging from emotional and physical trauma to impaired senses, chronic pain and amputated limbs.
  • The San Juan Mountains are the largest mountain range in Colorado by area and have an elevation of 14,309ft.
  • The expedition will run October 1-October 10.
  • The team will just be returning from training where they summited a major peak in Colorado State Forest State Park.

No Barriers Warriors aims to cultivate inner strength and determination in veterans by overcoming barriers, regardless of physical, mental or emotional challenges.  In this interview, John Toth, Director of No Barriers Warriors, will talk more about the the 2016 Warriors to Summits Expedition Series, the recently completed training and upcoming mission, as well as curriculum that is geared to help warriors plan for the future. John will be joined by one of the returning veterans training for the expedition.
