As the lazy days of summer continue, DIY enthusiasts and home improvement professionals alike are anything but lazy! The warm weather provides the perfect opportunity to tackle those home improvement to-do lists – from adding color to our landscaping to beautifying outdoor patio spaces, and even FINALLY repainting the vinyl siding of our houses.

Glidden paints expert, Jenny Burroughs is no stranger to tackling these types of projects. Jenny will be able to share simple techniques for novices and experts alike on how to spruce up the different outdoor areas of our homes.

Some tips include:

  • Restore your original vinyl siding – Instead of spending thousands of dollars replacing your vinyl siding, refresh, renew and protect the exterior vinyl of your home to a like-new appearance without the concern of cracking and peeling or warping from the sun and heat.
  • Add a spark of color to the entrance of your home – While focusing on painting your vinyl siding, don’t forget that the exterior doors, shutters, trim and accent can be different colors as long as they coordinate and complement the body color of the home.
  • Backyard basics – If you’re planning on putting in a new patio, consider the various materials that will complement the vinyl color of your home. Need more help visualizing the space? You can use string or rope to outline your patio, measure this outline and bring the measurements with you to your local home goods store to ensure you get the right amount of pavers.
  • Know before you grow – Before you start to plant, look around your yard and think of where you want certain plants to grow and thrive. Do your research on where plants should be placed to highlight the home’s vinyl exterior while also making sure they get the appropriate sun and shade.
