VETERANS DAY MESSAGE FROM USO: USO SUPPORT DOES NOT END WHEN YOU LEAVE THE MILITARY

USO PATHFINDERSM PROGRAM IS THERE TO HELP SERVICE MEMBERS AND THEIR FAMILIES TRANSITION FROM MILITARY TO CIVILIAN LIFE

J.D. Crouch II

President and CEO, USO

Many people know that the USO supports service members throughout their time in uniform. This Veterans Day, the USO wants you to know that the USO is also there to help service members and their families when their military service to the nation is complete. Transitioning out of the military can be tough for the estimated 200,000 plus service members, who become civilians each year. The USO PathfinderSM program provides seamless access to relevant opportunities to successfully transition service members into thriving veterans. The program’s best-in-class services include:

§  Personalized assistance – USO Pathfinder employs scouts, individuals who work one-on-one with service members and their families to help them achieve their personal and professional transition goals.

§  Powerful, on-demand tools – In partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Hiring our Heroes, the USO offers an app-based Resume Engine that accurately translates military experience into a powerful civilian resume that is then connected to a vast network of companies that are seeking to hire service members. Additionally, the USO and Veterati provide digital mentorship on demand to service members seeking the critical advice, assistance and connection to help job seekers excel in their career journey.

§  Partnerships – USO Pathfinder is connected to long-standing partners in communities across the nation. Its “network of networks” is made up of strategic and supporting partnerships with best-in-class public and private entities that provide services and resources for individuals to use both on a national and local level. Boeing recently donated $5 million dollars to the USO Pathfinder program.

§  Worldwide access – Within the global network of USO’s more than 200 locations – located on military installations, airports and in military communities – USO offers on-demand services through digital channels and the USO’s virtual, mobile-responsive Action Plan app and at USO centers at 11 locations across the U.S.
