Investors Becoming More Optimistic in 2019

Trade War Ending and Fed Policy Changes Helping Economic Growth

Gene Goldman, CFA

Chief Investment Officer and Director of Research, Cetera® Investment Management

Fed Chairman Jerome Powell’s recent admission that the Federal Reserve System will be flexible on policy and is in no hurry to raise interest rates has sparked optimism in the financial world. This “dovish” stance, along with a resolution to the China trade war in sight, has helped the stock market rally recently. And, as economic data continues to be solid and corporate earnings are not as bad as many feared, worries of a recession in 2019 have diminished. While there are market concerns to watch, such as rising wage inflation, growing populism and budget deficits, a jump in new home sales, drops in gas prices and steady employment growth are fueling optimism among small businesses and investors in the U.S.

On Wednesday, February 27th, Gene Goldman, Chief Investment Officer and Director of Research of Cetera Investment Management, is available discuss the markets and why investors are more optimistic now than ever. He’ll also discuss the consumer confidence numbers to be released on February 26, the GDP data to be released on February 28, as well as outline the market’s favorite and least favorite sectors.
