A MOTHER’S DAY GIFT TO YOURSELF

SENIOR LIVING EXPERT SHARES TIPS TO RESTORE BALANCE TO A CAREGIVER’S LIFE

Cindy Baier

President & CEO, Brookdale Senior Living

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are 40.4 million unpaid caregivers of adults 65 and older in the United States. And it may not be surprise that not only are the majority of those caregivers female (75% according to the Institute on Aging), but AARP notes that 65% of those care recipients are also female.  So in many communities nationwide, daughters are also serving as their mother’s  mother!  But there is help out there and wonderful solutions that will allow these women – while still fulfilling the caregiver role, once again become their Mother’s daughter.

There are a wide variety of care solutions and it all begins with research.  Communities like Brookdale offer a comprehensive menu of senior living options including independent living, assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing. They assist in evaluating each individual situation and help ease the transition with loved ones.  Brookdale is the largest senior living provider in the country, with more than 100,000 seniors who live in more than one thousand communities across the country. Offering a person-centered approach to care, Brookdale specializes in really getting to know its residents and tailoring care and activities to every individual.

On May 1, Cindy Baier will be available for interviews to share some practical tips, resources and a thoughtful guide for creating a caregiving plan for your loved ones.  She will also share her personal story when she helped her own mother move into a senior living community.
