James Bell

Auto Industry Veteran and Director of Corporate Communications, Kia Motors America

You’re in the market for your first car and think of nothing but the freedom and adventures that await you on the open road! For many, buying a new car may be their first major financial purchase and a very exciting time.  However, with so many vehicle options, the process can be daunting. Before you put the pedal to the metal, make sure you anticipate any roadblocks that could leave your automotive dreams in the rearview mirror. On Friday, September 6, auto industry expert, James Bell, will be available for interview to give listeners an expert course in Car Buying 101.  James will also share the do’s and don’ts of the process and help you find your new set of wheels.

Some of his tips will include:

  • DO YOUR RESEARCH: There are tons of websites that provide detailed user ratings and reviews as well as forums where consumers discuss different car models and their personal experiences. Find out if there been any recalls, how it handles in certain driving conditions, etc.
  • SET A BUDGET: Setting a realistic budget is top priority and that includes not just the down payment and purchase price but budgeting for things like maintenance, insurance, gas, and repairs.
  • EVALUATE YOUR NEEDS VS WANTS: When it comes to optional equipment, sometimes too much of a good thing is just that, too much. Be sure you are considering needs first, then wants and likes as add-ons if your budget allows.
