THE USO INVITES YOU TO

“REFLECT & CONNECT” THIS SEPTEMBER

HOW THE USO IS COMMEMORATING 9/11 AND CONNECTING SERVICE MEMBERS TO FAMILY, HOME, AND COUNTRY

Alan J. Reyes

Senior Vice President (SVP) of Operations & Programs, USO

Each year on September 11, our Nation comes together in a patriotic show of support for our country. On the heels of the 16th anniversary of this day, and in observance of the National Day of Service and Remembrance, the USO invites Americans to “Reflect & Connect” in support of service members.

“Reflect & Connect” demonstrates the national unity and patriotic sentiment surrounding September 11 while calling on all Americans to connect with and show gratitude for the service members who continue to keep us safe. As part of this campaign, the USO is hosting a care package service project on Capitol Hill with members of Congress from across the country. The 1,500 care packages assembled during the service project on Capitol Hill will be sent directly to service members supporting Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.

On Tuesday, September 12, SVP of Operations and Programs for the USO, Alan J. Reyes will be available to discuss how all Americans can “Reflect & Connect” this September by sending a message of support to service members at uso.org/Reflect. A Rear Admiral in the U.S. Navy Reserve, Reyes has deployed multiple times to the Middle East and was a veteran at the time of the 9/11 attacks. The 9/11 attacks inspired him to re-enlist on September 12, 2001 and he continues to serve in the U.S. Navy Reserve today. Reyes and special guests will be available to discuss their personal 9/11 stories and why they are encouraging America to join the USO as a Force Behind the ForcesSM.

The USO Care Package program launched following the attacks on September 11 to provide service members involved in Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom a connection to home. The USO has shipped nearly 30,000 care packages this year alone. USO centers across the globe will be hosting similar “Reflect and Connect” service projects throughout the week in recognition of Patriot Day. To learn more visit uso.org/Force.
